Description
The DS423DO dissolved oxygen sensor uses an optical method to measure the dissolved oxygen concentration in water. The measurement method is based on the dynamic fluorescence quenching effect caused by oxygen molecules. When the fluorescent substance in the excited state interacts with the quencher (oxygen), the fluorescence intensity will decrease, which is called quenching. When quenching occurs, energy is transferred from the fluorescent substance to the oxygen molecule, resulting in a decrease in fluorescence intensity until it disappears.
The intensity of fluorescence and the quenching time depend on the concentration of oxygen and follow the Stern-Volmer formula. Therefore, the oxygen concentration in the medium can be obtained by measuring the fluorescence intensity and quenching time.
